Mounds View hasn't had much luck against Cretin-Derham Hall recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Mustangs will welcome the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Mounds View came up short against White Bear Lake on Monday, falling 18-10. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, while Cretin-Derham Hall put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Roseville. Cretin-Derham Hall put the hurt on Roseville with a sharp 10-0 win.
Brooke Nesdahl made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Hannah Yaeger and Allie Castro did most of the damage at the plate: Yaeger went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Castro went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Castro has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Camille Castro, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Cretin-Derham Hall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Cretin-Derham Hall pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mounds View, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Mounds View might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Cretin-Derham Hall in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
