Baseball Recap: Provo Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Provo barely beat Mountain View the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Bruins on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Gehrig Orchard made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Milo Rhineer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dawson Moore, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Provo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only posted a batting average of .091.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Provo, bringing their record up to 10-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Provo will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bruins: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
