Baseball Game Preview: Fort Myers Green Wave vs. Estero Wildcats

The Fort Myers Green Wave will take on the Estero Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Fort Myers' favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Estero has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Fort Myers managed to slip by Charlotte the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Fort Myers lost 8-2 to Charlotte on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 24 runs in the game before, the Green Wave couldn't push the score so high this time.

Fort Myers got a good showing from Adler Cervio, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, Cervio didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Estero made sure to put some runs up on the board against Gateway Charter on Tuesday. Estero blew past Gateway Charter 10-2. Considering the Wildcats' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Rylan Greenleaf was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Stewart, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Estero was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway Charter only posted a batting average of .167.

Estero's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Fort Myers, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
