Volleyball Recap: Pierce Takes Down Ranked Guardian Angels Central Catholic

Pierce faced Guardian Angels Central Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Pierce blew past Guardian Angels Central Catholic 3-0. This was a revenge game for Pierce: when they faced off against Guardian Angels Central Catholic last Tuesday, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Pierce was led to victory by Josie Painter and Haley Scholting. Painter had 12 digs and five assists, while Scholting had six digs and two aces. Painter has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last five times she's played.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Emma Cohee and Riley Wegner. Cohee had 21 assists and four digs, while Wegner had 12 digs and one assist.

Pierce is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, with the defeat, they broke their ten-match winning streak and moved their record to 24-3.
