Baseball Preview: Baldwin Highlanders vs. Hempfield Area Spartans

Baldwin is 1-6 against Hempfield Area since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Baldwin Highlanders will be staying on the road to face off against the Hempfield Area Spartans at 4:15 p.m.

On Sunday, Baldwin suffered a rough 10-4 loss at the hands of Norwin.

Baldwin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Alario, who went 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Ledbetter, who went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a double.

Meanwhile, Hempfield Area is still undefeated this season after their game against Central Catholic on Wednesday, but Central Catholic came as close as anyone has to beating them. Hempfield Area had just enough and edged Central Catholic out 6-4.

Baldwin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hempfield Area, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Baldwin suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Hempfield Area when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Thankfully for Baldwin, Conner Burkey (who didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched) won't be suiting up this time.
