Softball Recap: Gowanda's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Gowanda won the last time they faced Pine Valley Central and things went their way on Tuesday too. Gowanda came out on top against Pine Valley Central by a score of 6-3. The victory was some much needed relief for Gowanda as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gracie Eddy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addison Kota, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Helena Wallschlaeger, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Gowanda hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Gowanda now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Pine Valley Central, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Gowanda is taking a road trip to square off against Brocton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.14 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pine Valley Central, they will host Cattaraugus-Little Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
