Volleyball Recap: Ocoee Takes a Loss

Ocoee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wekiva Mustangs. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ocoee started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 23-25, 25-16, 27-25, 15-7.

Ralph Mills paced Ocoee's offense, picking up four kills. Mills got some help from Ismael Herrera and his seven assists. Finally, Christian White kept Ocoee's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Ocoee's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Wekiva, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Ocoee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Orlando Science on the 1st. As for Wekiva, they have also already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Liberty on the 1st.
