Volleyball Recap: Sugar Creek Charter Comes Up Short

If Sugar Creek Charter was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats lost 3-0 to the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-4, 25-17.

Kiara Capistran was the offensive standout of the contest as she had eight aces and one assist. Those eight aces gave her a new career-high. Lilly Watkins also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Sugar Creek Charter has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Sugar Creek Charter will host NCSSM: Morganton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they are taking a road trip to challenge Cherryville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
