Basketball Recap: Jefferson Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from T Nutter and Meadow Mondragon

After flying high against Rocky Mountain Prep SMART last Thursday, Jefferson came back down to earth. The Jefferson Saints fell just short of the DSST: Cedar Falcons by a score of 45-42 on Tuesday. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Jefferson's loss came despite strong showings from Meadow Mondragon and T Nutter. Mondragon posted 17 points and six assists, while Nutter dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 boards. Nutter is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Sylvester, who had five points and six rebounds.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for DSST: Cedar, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Jefferson will head out on the road to face off against DSST: Montview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for DSST: Cedar, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against KIPP Denver Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
