Baseball Game Preview: Ewing Blue Devils vs. Hightstown Rams

The Ewing Blue Devils are taking a road trip to face off against the Hightstown Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Ewing has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight losses, while Hightstown will come in with seven straight wins.

Ewing's last matchup with Allentown could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Blue Devils came up short against the Redbirds, falling 14-5.

Jake Mignogna was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hightstown got the win against Princeton on Thursday by a conclusive 16-5. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.

Dominick Terranova tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Daniel Krier was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Michael Guarino was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Hightstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hightstown pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Ewing, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Ewing couldn't quite finish off Hightstown when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
