Softball Recap: High Point Starts off Right with Win over Lenape Valley

High Point had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lenape Valley Patriots 7-5. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Grace Meyers made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. Meyers was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meyers wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abby Macfie, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Daphne Mathews was another, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Looking ahead, High Point will square off against Jefferson Township at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lenape Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge North Warren Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
