Basketball Recap: Kolton Rogers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pelion over American Leadership Academy

Pelion fought the good fight in their overtime game against American Leadership Academy on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the American Leadership Academy Patriots by a score of 58-56. The Panthers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Pelion's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kolton Rogers, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 17 points and seven rebounds. Rogers continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyan Davis, who posted 11 points along with seven assists and three steals.

American Leadership Academy was led to victory by Bryce Newton and Payton Miles. Newton had 18 points, while Miles put up 15 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Miles' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Jake Cantor was another key player, putting up eight points.

Pelion's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for American Leadership Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-17.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pelion beat American Leadership Academy by a score of 52-45 on Friday.
