Softball Recap: Western Boone Victorious

Western Boone came out on top against Southmont on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Stars walked away with a 7-3 win over the Mounties. The victory continues a trend for the Stars in their matchups with the Mounties: they've now won seven in a row.

Ally Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mickey Burns was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Addi Lee was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Western Boone's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Southmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Western Boone beat the Mounties by a score of 12-8 later that day.
