Basketball Recap: Whitharral Piles Up the Points Against Jemez Valley

Whitharral's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 74-24 win over the Jemez Valley Warrior. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 554th in Texas, while the Warrior are ranked 127th in New Mexico).

Whitharral was led to victory by Brenton Robinson and Hudson Dobrovolny. Robinson went 10 of 12 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds, while Dobrovolny dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Damian Rodriguez, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Whitharral was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Whitharral's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Jemez Valley, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Whitharral and Reagan County will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jemez Valley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wingate at 2:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
