Softball Recap: Murphy Has No Trouble Against Hayesville

Murphy was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They blew past the Hayesville Yellowjackets 9-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Paisley Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Murphy got a massive performance out of Aiden Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Smith has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Laney, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Murphy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Murphy's record is now 11-7. As for Hayesville, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Looking ahead, Murphy will host Cherokee at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hayesville will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' matchup: after the Bulldogs face off against the Braves, they'll take on Hayesville again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
