Preview: South Effingham Mustangs vs. Effingham County Rebels
After four games on the road, South Effingham is heading back home. They will take on the Effingham County Rebels at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
South Effingham suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 69-43 defeat at the hands of Glynn Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Effingham in their matchups with Glynn Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite their loss, South Effingham saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Will Harlin, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Seyler, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Effingham County was able to grind out a solid victory over Brunswick on Tuesday, taking the game 63-52.
South Effingham bumped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Effingham County, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
Things could have been worse for South Effingham, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-54 loss to Effingham County in their previous meeting two weeks ago.
