Baseball Game Preview: Columbus Falcons vs. Vicksburg Gators

Columbus is 0-4 against Vicksburg since April of 2024 but things could change on Friday. The Falcons will challenge the Gators at 7:00 p.m. Columbus has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Columbus is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 12-2 to Vicksburg.

For Vicksburg's part, Allan Allen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Allen is becoming a predictor of the Gators' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Vicksburg got a massive performance out of Kobe Cartwright, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Cartwright a new career-high in RBI (three). Mickell Jones was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Vicksburg's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Columbus, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.
