Preview: Foxcroft Academy Ponies vs. John Bapst Memorial Crusaders
Foxcroft Academy and John Bapst Memorial are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Foxcroft Academy Ponies will finish 2023 at home by hosting the John Bapst Memorial Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses dating back to last season for Foxcroft Academy and eight for John Bapst Memorial dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Foxcroft Academy was beaten by Old Town 56-17. While losing is never fun, Foxcroft Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Old Town is ranked second).
Foxcroft Academy's defeat came about despite a quality game from Allie Smith, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, John Bapst Memorial was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 53-47 to Houlton.
Foxcroft Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for John Bapst Memorial, they bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Foxcroft Academy was able to grind out a solid win over John Bapst Memorial in their previous matchup back in January, winning 38-25. Does Foxcroft Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will John Bapst Memorial turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
