Basketball Recap: Maggie Walker Extends Winning Streak to Five

Maggie Walker put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Amelia County Raiders by a score of 44-33. The 44-point effort marked Maggie Walker's lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Leading Maggie Walker to victory were Rhaiyn Preston and Jamie Martin. Preston went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points, while Martin dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Martin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 24 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Makayla Williams, who posted four points and 11 rebounds.

Maggie Walker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in 13 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Maggie Walker's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Amelia County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
