Baseball Game Preview: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. Sage Creek Bobcats

The Del Norte Nighthawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Sage Creek Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Del Norte took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Carmel, sneaking past 4-2.

Elliot Kim spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Liam O'Day, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Cameron Clem was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sage Creek ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out El Camino 5-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Bobcats, who have now won four games in a row.

Elijah Stephens was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Sage Creek's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Saiki, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Del Norte's record now sits at 6-8. As for Sage Creek, their record is now 9-6.

Del Norte suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Sage Creek when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Nighthawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
