The Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks are taking a road trip to  square off against the Heritage Christian Defenders  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hammond Academy of Science & Tech has seven straight  victories, Heritage Christian has five straight  losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Hammond Academy of Science & Tech will bounce into Thursday's   match after  beating Whiting, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Hawks never let the Oilers get on the board and left with  an   8-0  win  on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won six games by eight  runs or more  so far this season.
 Noah Michniewicz was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with one  stolen base, one  double,  and one  RBI.

 In other batting news,  Austin McKimmy was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and one  run. He is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as he's  now  snagged two or more in each of the last six games he's  played.  Anthony Concepcion was another key player,  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances with four  stolen bases, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 Hammond Academy of Science & Tech  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .590. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an  OBP of .512 or higher in seven consecutive  contests.
 Hammond Academy of Science & Tech hit Heritage Christian with a five-run fourth inning  last Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Defenders came up short against  the Hawks, falling  15-6.
 Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's record now sits at 8-1. As for Heritage Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
 Everything went Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's way against Heritage Christian when the teams last played  last Wednesday, as Hammond Academy of Science & Tech made off with  a  15-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
