Volleyball Recap: Copper Canyon's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Copper Canyon had to endure a six-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Glendale Cardinals by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Copper Canyon got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-31, 25-23, 25-19, 25-20.

Copper Canyon was led to victory by Janelle Lemus and Sophia Villegas. Lemus had eight digs and four aces, while Villegas had 11 digs. Those 11 digs gave Villegas a new career-high. Kitala Emerode Mambulu also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Copper Canyon was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale only served six.

Copper Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Glendale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-15.

As of now, neither Copper Canyon nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
