Softball Game Preview: Saint James Saints vs. Fort Hill Sentinels

The Saint James Saints will head out to face off against the Fort Hill Sentinels at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Saint James' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Fort Hill's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Saint James' tournament run continued when they took on Hedgesville on Saturday. The Saints took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Frankfort hit Fort Hill with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Sentinels came up short against the Falcons, falling 10-2. The Sentinels haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Fort Hill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynnan Wigger, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Nakiah Dunn also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Fort Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Saint James, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Saint James couldn't quite get it done against Fort Hill in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
