Basketball Game Preview: Spalding Jaguars vs. Whitewater Wildcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Spalding Jaguars challenge the Whitewater Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Spalding and 20 for Whitewater.

On Wednesday, Spalding was beaten by Sandy Creek 74-28. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 475th, while the Patriots are ranked 81st).

Meanwhile, Whitewater played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Fayette County and fell 66-20. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-8.

Whitewater's loss dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Spalding, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.

Everything went Spalding's way against Whitewater in their previous meeting on January 3rd, as Spalding made off with a 61-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Spalding since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
