Softball Recap: Socorro Gets the Win

Socorro proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 17) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Montwood Rams. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won four in a row.

Haley Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Danielle Lozoya was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Socorro's record is now 30-2-1. As for Montwood, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-17-1.

Coming up, Socorro will face off against Frenship at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Montwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
