The Freedom Christian Academy Patriots will head out to challenge The O'Neal School Falcons at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
On Thursday, Freedom Christian Academy made easy work of Berean Baptist Academy and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Freedom Christian Academy took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-15, 25-15.
If Fayetteville Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played The O'Neal School, they should've done a better job of containing Laura Shulze. The Falcons blew past the Eagles 3-0 on Tuesday thanks in part to Shulze, who had 12 aces, five kills, and four digs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 aces per game.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant The O'Neal School was: they took every set by at least 14 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-7, 25-11.
Freedom Christian Academy better focus on containing Lily Stanley and Elli Hood as the pair were huge in The O'Neal School's win. Stanley had 17 assists and four aces, while Hood had eight kills and three aces. Those four aces gave Stanley a new career-high.
The O'Neal School was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 36 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive contests.
Freedom Christian Academy's record now sits at 13-10. As for The O'Neal School, their record is now 4-9.
Freedom Christian Academy skirted past The O'Neal School 3-2 when the teams last played on September 8th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
