Softball Recap: Brunswick Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Brunswick had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over the Strongsville Mustangs. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Brunswick got a great performance from Kiley Williams as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Addison Compton was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Delainey Andolek, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Brunswick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Strongsville only posted an OBP of .423.

Brunswick's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Strongsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brunswick will welcome Holy Name at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Blue Devils have won five straight at home, while the Green Wave won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Strongsville, they will host Avon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
