Softball Game Preview: York Catholic Fighting Irish vs. Hanover Nighthawks

The York Catholic Fighting Irish will challenge the Hanover Nighthawks at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for York Catholic and three for Hanover.

York Catholic fell victim to Delone Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 15-0 to the Squires.

Meanwhile, Hanover came up short against Biglerville on Wednesday, falling 21-4.

Elizabeth Valentine was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Rutledge, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

York Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Hanover, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

York Catholic took their victory against Hanover when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 17-5 score. Will the Fighting Irish repeat their success, or do the Nighthawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
