Baseball Recap: Mission Hills Drops Season-High Score on San Pasqual

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mission Hills). They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the San Pasqual Golden Eagles on Tuesday. This was payback for the Grizzlies, who suffered a 7-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jaxson Jenkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Mission Hills is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-6 otherwise. Jenkins was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Preston Waller was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Cayden Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

Mission Hills is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for San Pasqual, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Golden Eagles beat Mission Hills by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.
