Baseball Game Preview: Destin Sharks vs. Paxton Bobcats

The Destin Sharks will head out to take on the Paxton Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Destin's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matchups, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Destin's offense. They lost 16-0 to Jay on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paxton). They were the clear victors by an 18-6 margin over Bethlehem on Tuesday.

Paxton got a massive performance out of Trevor Varnum, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave Varnum a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Phillip Bearden, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Paxton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Destin's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Paxton, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Destin beat Paxton 7-3 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sharks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
