Basketball Recap: Buchtel Takes a Loss

Buchtel lost against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy back in February of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Buchtel Griffins were dealt a 49-10 defeat at the hands of the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals. While losing is never fun, the Griffins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 607th, while the Royals are ranked 69th).

Despite the loss, Buchtel had strong showings from Shaylah Jones, who posted four points and seven boards, and Phoenix Hafford, who had four points. That was a full 40% of Buchtel's points, marking the third time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

This is the second loss in a row for Buchtel and nudges their season record down to 4-14. As for Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

Buchtel has already played their next contest (against North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy will welcome Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
