Football Recap: Hertford County Bears vs. Pender Patriots

Hertford County and Pender squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Hertford County had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Patriots, falling 60-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Bears haven't been shut out since back in September.

Rucker Nixon threw for 84 yards on eight of 25 attempts. Ayden Everette was his top target, picking up 27 receiving yards. On the ground, Justin Bunch rushed for 55 yards.

ZyQuan Murphy had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 197 yards and four scores on only 15 carries for Pender. With that strong performance, Murphy is now averaging an impressive 103.3 rushing yards per game. Another rusher making a difference was Zeke Williams, who rushed for 135 yards and one touchdown.

Hertford County's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Pender, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.
