Basketball Recap: Garinger Comes Up Short

The Garinger Wildcats ended up a good deal behind the Combine Academy Regional Goats on Tuesday and lost 54-36. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Garinger saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aaron Lawler posted 20 points. Lawler's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Raymond Jefferson, who scored four points and five rebounds.

Garinger's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Combine Academy Regional, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-6.

Coming up, Garinger will venture away from home to square off against Palisades at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will be up against the Pumas' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Combine Academy Regional, they will challenge Lab University Christian Academy National at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
