Basketball Recap: Hampton Skates Past Warwick with Ease

Hampton won the last time they faced Warwick and things went their way on Thursday too. The Hampton Crabbers took their match with ease, bagging a 65-37 win over the Warwick Raiders. Given the Crabbers' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Raiders are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hampton was led to victory by Abraham Taft and Gavin Kay. Taft went 6 of 10 on his way to 21 points and three steals, while Kay dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Kay a new career-high in steals (four). Jah'Bhyrant Briggs was another key player, putting up nine points.

Hampton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Warwick, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Hampton will challenge Churchland at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hampton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season. As for Warwick, they will head out to challenge Woodside at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodside will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Warwick surely won't give up without a fight.
