Softball Recap: Richwoods Knights vs. Morton Potters
Richwoods was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Morton Potters. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 12-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
Addison Morrissey put in work no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Morrissey wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cici Robinson, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Richwoods' loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Morton, their victory bumped their record up to 3-13.
Looking ahead, Richwoods will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Urbana at 4:30 p.m. As for Morton, they are taking a road trip to face off against Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
