Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Monica). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Morningside Monarchs a 21-0 shutout on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

Kaveh Naini made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Santa Monica got a massive performance out of Aaron Heirigs, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two runs gave Heirigs a new career-high. Tre Camp also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Santa Monica always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morningside only posted an OBP of .062.

The win (which was Santa Monica's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Morningside, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Santa Monica will have a chance to go back-to-back against Morningside: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
