Basketball Recap: West Iredell Takes a Loss

West Iredell lost against Foard back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The West Iredell Warriors were dealt a 73-8 defeat at the hands of the Foard Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while the Tigers are ranked 199th).

Leading Foard to victory were Jessica Bailey and Preslee Dula. Bailey almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards, while Dula went 8 of 18 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals. Bailey is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Rhoney, who posted seven points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

West Iredell is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11. As for Foard, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

West Iredell will face off against East Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Lincoln will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something West Iredell surely won't give up without a fight. As for Foard, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Statesville at 6:00 p.m. Foard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.
