Millard West comes up short despite Jordan Gassen's dominant performance

Recap: Millard West Wildcats vs. Omaha Westside Warriors

The Millard West Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 54-44 to Omaha Westside. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Millard West has scored all season.

Despite the loss, Millard West still got an impressive performance from Jordan Gassen, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Carter LaBorde, who scored five points.

Leading Omaha Westside to victory were Caleb Benning and Kevin Stubblefield. Benning scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Stubblefield scored 12 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Stubblefield posted two or more blocks. Maddox Anderson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Millard West dropped their record down to 7-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Omaha Westside, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Millard West won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lincoln High at 5:15 p.m. on January 27th. Lincoln High will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Millard West is ranked 92nd). As for Omaha Westside, they will play host again and welcome Creighton Prep, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
