Softball Game Preview: Calvary Christian Academy Cougars vs. King's Christian Knights

The Calvary Christian Academy Cougars will face off against the King's Christian Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Things were looking good for Calvary Christian Academy after they put the first runs on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Philadelphia Academy Charter. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, King's Christian had to start their season on the road back in March, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of Riverside by a score of 7-6.

Bridet Levandoski was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Levandoski was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Ava Garcia was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Lily Welsh was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Calvary Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4-1. As for King's Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Calvary Christian Academy took their victory against King's Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
