Venice and Parrish Community are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Venice is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Venice will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Lakewood Ranch, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Venice walked away with a 10-7 victory over Lakewood Ranch last Thursday.
Jayde Neptune spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 14 hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Venice got a massive performance out of Riley Sullivan, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Sullivan has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Queen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Venice was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .406 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Parrish Community didn't have quite enough to beat Berkeley Prep last Thursday and fell 7-6.
Jersie Rohde was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Mackenzie Pandelo was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.
Venice's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Parrish Community, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2.
Venice couldn't quite finish off Parrish Community in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Venice avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
