This season hasn't been kind to the Salem Baptist Christian Vikings, who are still winless after their 15th match. They lost to University Christian at home by a decisive 49-35 margin on Friday. Salem Baptist Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as University Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Salem Baptist Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Garrett Trinkle. Despite the final result, he shot 4-for-9 from downtown and dropped a triple-double on 24 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. Trinkle hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Lloyd, who scored no points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Salem Baptist Christian's defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-15. As for University Christian, their victory ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7.
Salem Baptist Christian will square off against Statesville Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Statesville Christian is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for University Christian, they will be playing at home against Hickory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
