Volleyball Recap: Bria Golem Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Wickliffe

Kirtland won the last time they faced Wickliffe and Willa Gordon did her part to make sure it happened again. The Hornets blew past the Blue Devils 3-0 on Monday with plenty of help from Gordon, who had eight aces and seven digs. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Kirtland took every set by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-11, 25-9.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kirtland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bria Golem, who had seven digs and three aces. Matea Vujica also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Kirtland was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 30 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 11 consecutive contests.

Kirtland is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Wickliffe, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Looking ahead, Kirtland will face off against Berkshire at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wickliffe, they will take on John F. Kennedy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
