Softball Recap: Harpeth Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Creek Wood, Harpeth was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Hickman County Bulldogs by a score of 5-1. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Taylor Riley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Vannata, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

Harpeth's win bumped their record up to 5-10-1. As for Hickman County, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harpeth will square off against Fairview at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hickman County, they will face off against Perry County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
