Softball Recap: Hagerstown's Undefeated Season over After Seven Games

Hagerstown fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Roncalli on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Royals by a score of 6-5. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Rylan Young put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 8.2 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Allison Stinson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Mackenzie Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hagerstown fell to 6-1. As for Roncalli, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 7-0.

Hagerstown has already played their next matchup (against Franklin County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Roncalli, they will square off against South Bend Saint Joseph at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
