Basketball Game Preview: Billingsley Bears vs. Isabella Mustangs

Billingsley is 1-9 against Isabella since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Billingsley Bears just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Isabella Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Billingsley will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Billingsley will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Thorsby, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Billingsley snuck past Thorsby with a 47-41 victory on Thursday.

Alana Jones and Derrica Motley were among the main playmakers for Billingsley as the former dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards and the latter went 8 of 17 on her way to 18 points along with five assists and four steals. Jones has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 36 times she's played.

Billingsley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 36 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Isabella was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by Thorsby 68-28. One positive for the Mustangs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Billingsley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.9 points per game. As for Isabella, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything came up roses for Billingsley against Isabella in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-9 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Billingsley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
