Basketball Recap: Thornwell Falls Despite Big Games from Makenzie Godfrey and Kynli English

Thornwell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 44-18 to the McCormick Chiefs. The Saints lost against the Chiefs in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 65-8 score last time.

Thornwell's loss came despite strong showings from Kynli English and Makenzie Godfrey. English posted no points and six blocks, while Godfrey put up a point and eight rebounds. English has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last three times she's played.

Thornwell's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for McCormick, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thornwell will take on Whitmire at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McCormick, they are taking a road trip to face off against Fox Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
