Basketball Recap: Sweeny Takes a Loss

Sweeny was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 75-29 loss at the hands of the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Sweeny lost, don't look at Jacory Maisonet. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points in addition to six boards and six steals. With that strong performance, Maisonet is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game.

Sweeny's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Copperas Cove, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season.

Sweeny wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-45 loss against Elgin on the 13th. Copperas Cove has also already played their next contest, a 37-32 defeat against Somerset on the 14th.
