Basketball Recap: Wilkes Central Eagles vs. North Surry Greyhounds

The Wilkes Central Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 64-18 loss at the hands of North Surry. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wilkes Central has scored all season.

Despite the loss, Wilkes Central still got an impressive performance from Sydney Rowe, who scored six points along with six rebounds.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Wilkes Central struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as North Surry racked up 18 assists.

Sadie Badgett was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with eight steals and six rebounds for North Surry. Badgett is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Tompkins, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.

Wilkes Central has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for North Surry, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.

Wilkes Central will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Surry Central is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for North Surry, they will head out on the road to take on the Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Surry is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
