Baseball Recap: Citrus Valley Wins Going Away Against Beaumont

Citrus Valley barely beat Beaumont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Citrus Valley blew past Beaumont 8-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Blackhawks have posted against the Cougars since March 9, 2023.

The team relied heavily on Nathan Stamper, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Adrien Candelaria was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Citrus Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

The win got Citrus Valley back to even at 7-7. As for Beaumont, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Citrus Valley and Beaumont could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Citrus Valley will take on Cajon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 168 places (225 vs. 57). Meanwhile, Beaumont (ranked 796th) will meet Arrowhead Christian (ranked 195th) at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
