Baseball Recap: San Marcos Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

San Marcos won the last time they faced Del Norte and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Knights walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Nighthawks.

San Marcos got a great performance from Brody Layne as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Layne has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Max Farrell and Josh Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Farrell scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Miller went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs Farrell has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Stephen Pittman, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

San Marcos lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

San Marcos is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2-1 record this season. As for Del Norte, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

San Marcos wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-2 win against Union on the 3rd. As for Del Norte, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-4 defeat against St. Augustine on the 3rd.
